The following is an excerpt from a News Release from VT-ENGAGE:
On September 7, 2007 - Virginia Tech announced a new initiative called VT-ENGAGE (www.engage.vt.edu) to honor those we lost April 16, 2007 and reaffirm its commitment to its motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve). The goal of VT-ENGAGE is 300,000 hours of community service to be performed by students, faculty, and staff by April 16, 2008. The Virginia Tech Alumni Association executive committee voted this week to challenge its members around the world to donate an additional 300,000 hours of community service for a total of 600,000 hours.
