Orange Bowl Watching Event - January 3rd 2008

Please be invited to a Special Orange Bowl Edition football watching party to be held at Shields Pizzeria in Troy. Shields pizzeria is a family friendly environment and is a longtime Italian fair staple for Metro Detroiters. Kickoff is slated for 8 PM, So lets gather around 7:15PM or so that we may place our food and drink orders prior to game time. If possible please RSVP with me (via telephone 248.255.3129 and or email matthew.wiles@gm.com) so that I may communicate to Shields the size of our party prior to arrival so that they may be better prepared.

Also, during halftime we will be holding officers elections for our Alumni Chapter. All positions are open for new leadership. As Thursday approaches please reflect upon your availability to participate as an officer in our chapter remembering the Virginia Tech motto “Ut Prosim” (That I may serve).

SEMI Chapter VT Officer Elections

As mentioned above, during the half time of the Orange Bowl event, we will be holding elections for all Alumni Chapter leadership positions including President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Webmaster, et cetera. This is a great opportunity to meet other local Hokies and be the embodiment of Virginia Tech in Southeast Michigan.

SEMI Chapter VT AA On-line Forum

Re-established as a mechanism for local alumni to deal with the aftermath of the tragic events of last April, the SEMI on-line forum is a mechanism to communicate with other local alumni. Please take a few minutes to register with Yahoo and participate!

Mission

The basic purposes of the Southeast Michigan alumni chapter are as follows:

To provide an important communications link between alumni in our local area and the university;
To promote the image and reputation of Virginia Tech within the community;
To promote strong positive relationships among alumni, students, parents and others within the community;
To support the activities of Virginia Tech and work toward the realization of the university's educational goals;
To provide the university with a strong core of alumni volunteers who serve as an important marketing arm of the university; and
To promote the alumni pride and spirit of Virginia Tech
