Knoxville Chapter
Hokie Football
We had 19 Hokie fans at Double Dogs to watch our victory over Appalachian State. The staff at Double Dogs took great care of us. In addition to having the game on 3 TVs, we each had a sound box at our tables.
Please join us on September 10 at 3:30 PM for the East Carolina game. (See link below for directions and information about Double Dogs.)
2011/2012 Scholarship winners
At the student send-off picnic we awarded two $600 scholarships. Congratulations to Aleyse McNealy and Dylan Wall, both freshmen.
Memorial
The Chapter planted a tree in Anchor Park as a lasting memorial to the 32 Hokies who were killed on August 16, 2007. This tree is maintained by the Town of Farragut.
Hokie Football
For the 2011/2012 season we plan to watch games together at Double Dogs. Double Dogs is a new sports bar/restaurant located on Hardin Valley Road just east of Pellissippi Parkway. They have lots of TVs and audio is available at each table. The food is good and prices are reasonable. Please monitor our chapter's Facebook page for the times of specific games that we will be watching there. Hope to see you there. Go Hokies!!!
Events
Please join our Facebook group, Knoxville Virginia Tech Alumni Chapter. We use Facebook as the primary method to notify members of upcoming chapter events. We also post pictures taken at events.
-
Once per quarter, on Saturday morning, we meet at Anchor Park in Farragut to pick up trash on our designated mile of Turkey Creek Road. This takes less than 2 hours and is a great opportunity to get to know some fellow Hokies while helping the community. Clean-up dates are posted on our Facebook page.
-
In mid-August, the last week before classes begin, we have a student send-off picnic. All incoming freshmen, current students, parents, and alumni are welcome to join us.
-
The chapter officers meet quarterly for a dinner meeting. Anyone is welcome to join us, just contact any officer listed below.
