Hokie Happy Hour; May 3, 5:30 PM

FireStone 110 South West Street, Riverfront, Wilmington, DE 19801 Join fellow Hokies for some drinks and appetizers. We’ll meet outside in the patio area if the weather is nice or move inside for inclement weather.

Delaware Special Olympics – June 8th and 9th

Once again the Hokies will join the DuPont team to run the track and field games. Our own Burnie Williams has become the well recognized voice announcing all the track and field events. The games are held all day Friday, June 8th and Saturday morning June 9th. We need volunteers both days. If you have never participated, it is very rewarding and a lot of fun. If you would like to participate, let Burnie (burnievt@yahoo.com) know (he keeps track of Hokies who volunteer so we are assigned together) and pre register by June 1st on the Special Olympics website at: www.SODE.org. Please indicate you are part of the DuPont group.

Annual Student / Alumni Picnic – Sunday, June 24 from 3 to ?

This year we are returning to Banning Park – Banning Pavilion for an afternoon of food, fun, socializing and some game playing. All are invited – current students, alumni, prospective Hokies and even Hokie parents. This year we will be raffling off door prizes to current students. The chapter provides burgers, dogs, chips and soft drinks. We ask you to bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share. Cost is $7. Per person >

The basic purposes of the First State Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association are as follows:

To provide an important communications link between alumni and the university;
To promote the image and reputation of Virginia Tech within the community;
To promote strong positive relationships among alumni, students, parents and others within the community;
To support the activities of Virginia Tech and work toward the realization of the university's educational goals;
To provide the university with a strong core of alumni volunteers who serve as an important marketing arm of the university; and
To promote the alumni pride and spirit of Virginia Tech
