The Central Florida Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association grants scholarships to students from the Central Florida area to attend Virginia Tech. Please check back to this website for more local scholarship information coming soon.

Prospective Student :

The Central Florida VT Alumni Association has a scholarship program for area students. Scholarships not only provide financial assistance to outstanding Virginia Tech students but provide a wonderful opportunity for our chapter to gain exposure in the local community.  The Central Florida chapter holds fundraisers annually with the hopes of growing the scholarship fund each and every year.

This chapter is proud to offer scholarships to potential students and encourages everyone to apply as the candidates are chosen based on many factors ranging from academic potential to financial need. Please feel free to contact any of the Central FL VTAA officers to get more information.

In order to get an application for the available scholarship, you must be accepted as a student at Virginia Tech.  The university will then send you information on available scholarships upon acceptance.  View the following link for a sample application and questions you may be expected to answer.

  What's a Hokie?
The answer leads all the way back to 1896 when Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College changed its name to Virginia Polytechnic Institute. With the change came the necessity for writing a new cheer and a contest for such a purpose was held by the student body. Senior O.M. Stull won first prize for his "Hokie" yell which is still used today. Later, when asked if "Hokie" had any special meaning, Stull explained the word was solely the product of his imagination and was used only as an attention-getter for his yell. It soon became a nickname for all Tech teams and for those people loyal to Tech athletics.
